The following is an extract from a Gospel message preached on our special outreach video :- Gospel Meeting – Acts 4 V 12 Acts 4:12 neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. There is always a temptation to say what pleases the audience. In this age of Internet technology when what is said in the USA is immediately broadcast in the UK -
some have discovered recently that you cannot say one thing on this side of the Atlantic and something different on the other. There is the temptation even among preachers to say what pleases the people. Sometimes pressure can be brought to bear. A famous man of God Bishop Hugh Latimer preached before the feared King Henry VIII The Bishop plainly called a spade a spade and so he was ordered to preach again the following week and to publicly apologise for what he had said. Hugh Latimer had a choice to make please the king or please the king of kings. He preached the exact same message over again. Acts 5:29, we ought to obey God rather than men. Indeed we have another example here in the verse of scripture we read together, Here the preacher is Peter. In the previous chapter Peter and John through the power of Jesus Christ had healed a lame man. The authorities where none to pleased these men with their new message threaten their prestige and position. Notice what is said in Acts 4 v 2-3 Acts 4:2-3 being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead. [3] And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide. Peter is facing this hostile crowd he could literally loose his life – what would he do? Well we have read what he did he faithfully preached the gospel no matter who was listening. He knew his words would not please but he must be faithful to his God . Could I say to all who are listening on tape watching from home and to those who are gathered here tonight and for any who read this message on the internet .I too must faithfully preach the gospel. I do not come from a position of looking down on anyone I stand here tonight as a sinner yes but a sinner saved by grace. May the lord speak to all who hear this message . This is truly a wonderful verse of scripture The very men Peter faced- where in all likely hood the same men who condemned Jesus to death. What is amazing is this that here was an offer of salvation to them. Oh what amazing grace and this is still true the gospel invitation goes out to you , no matter what you have done , Jesus Christ is willing, able and ready to save you Romans 10:13 for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Someone once said there are many paths that lead to the top of the mountain just like getting to God That is not true that is not what the bible teaches tonight. Call me narrow minded call me bigoted call me presumptuous if you like but Acts 4:12 neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Some in our province believe in the name of king Billy that will not save you. Some believe in the name of the Virgin Mary that will not save you. Some believe in the name of a church that not save you . Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Let the word of God verify this. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Isaiah 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. Yes this is what the bible teaches there is only one way I want to look at the last four words of this verse of scripture this is the message I want the holy spirit to write upon your hearts if you forget everything else please do not forget this. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. "We must be saved" People don’t really like being told anything , if we are honest we feel we can do whatever we like. But here is something that must happen if you are to know real peace, joy and contentment in your heart You must be saved You must be saved because of your condition Condition Absolutely no exceptions God says that all of us are sinners born in sin and shapen in iniquity. What does it mean to come short of the glory of God ? I read about a competition they had in Catalina Island it is twenty-five miles from the pier in Santa Monica to Catalina Island. Apparently they used to try and jump from the pier to the island. Obviously no one ever managed to do it. Some got further than others did but they all fell short. Those who got further ended up the wettest. And some may be awful sinners some may be good sinners but none of us can reach Gods perfect standard we all fall short of the glory of God. Because of your condition you must be saved Because of a certainty you must be saved Certainty Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Death is a certainty that is ahead of us all barring the return of the Lord . I am sure you have heard about the undertaker who signs his letters eventually yours. It is estimated that in the world that 60 000 000 die each year that is two people every second Average heartbeat is 70 per minute that is over 100000 per day nearly 40 000000 per year one day it will stop where will you spend eternity? Remember what Jesus said - John 8:21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. We must be saved because of our condition because of a certainty because of his coming. Coming The Lord Jesus said I will come again. James says the coming of the lord draweth nigh. When Jesus comes to the earth we are told in zecheriah something wonderful will happen. Zech. 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. Holiday inns wanted to build a hotel on the mount of olives after some investigation they said it could not be done "there is a geological fault under the mount which is causing it to split." A coincidence? - Jesus Christ is coming soon that’s why you must be saved. Consequences. Listen to the words of Jesus Christ Mark 9:45-46 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: [46] Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: Jesus spoke of hell as a real place, a place of punishment for those who are still in their sins when death comes or when Christ comes Rev. 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Listen I seek not to annoy or hurt anyone but as I said at the beginning I must be faithful. There is a real place called hell for those who die without Christ as their saviour. That is another reason why- you must be saved We could give many reasons why you must be saved do you want that circle to be unbroken then you must be saved. There is something colossal that you will miss a place called heaven that’s another reason why you must be saved. But I want to finish with the most compelling reason of all why YOU MUST BE SAVED Calvary John 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 1 Cor. 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. If you truly ponder Calvary and what Christ did at the place which is called Calvary. His great love for you surely is most compelling. You must be saved. Yes you must be saved and yes you can be saved. What must I do to be saved? Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. YOU MUST BE SAVED. YOU CAN BE SAVED. WILL YOU BE SAVED?
