There is a hymn whose words I would love to be able to put totally into practice ...
Thy way, not mine O Lord, however dark it be,
Lead me by Thine own hand; choose out the path for me.
Smooth let it be or rough; it still will be the best;
Winding or straight it leads right onward to Thy rest.
I dare not choose my lot; I would not if I might;
Choose Thou for me, my God, so shall I walk aright.
Take Thou my cup and it with joy or sorrow fill;
As best to Thee may seem, choose Thou my good and ill.
Choose Thou for me my friends, my sickness or my health;
Choose Thou my cares for me, my poverty or wealth.
Not mine, not mine the choice; in things or great or small
Be Thou my guide, my strength, my wisdom, and my all.
We will know that these words are faithful and true.
Let us ask the Lord for His help in ensuring that our commitment to Him and His
way is what it should be, irrespective of the transient cost to us.
After all, He has given us eternal life itself, through His only begotten Son!
And let us also remember the following words spoken by Paul ...
"And we know that God causes all things to work together
for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to
His purpose."
(Romans 8:28)
"The Lord will deliver me from every evil deed, and will bring me
safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and
ever. Amen".
(2 Timothy 4:18)
